Financial Controller

Must Have

  • Responsible for developing the organization’s overall financial policies.
  • Provides strategic direction of all financial functions including accounting, budget, credit, insurance, tax, and treasury.
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments.
  • Decide on investment strategies by considering cash and liquidity risks.
  • Control and evaluate the organization’s fundraising plans and capital structure.
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations.
  • Supervise all finance personnel (controllers, treasurers etc.).
  • Experience in the Travel Domain will be added advantage.

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Developing plans for growth to increase company profit.
  • Identifying investment opportunities and managing mergers and acquisitions.
  • Providing strategic management of the accounting and finance functions.
  • Directing accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Recommending improvements to ensure the integrity of a company’s financial information.
  • Managing or overseeing the relationship with independent auditors.
  • Overseeing financial systems implementations and upgrades.
  • Identifying and managing business risks and insurance requirements.
  • Business Intelligence skills.
  • Statutory and mandatory compliance.

Key Requirements & Characteristics

  • collaborating with the CEO, board, and other senior managers in Canada.
  • Managing relationships with investors and investment institutions.
  • Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting and finance staff.
  • In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software (e.g. Zoho Books).
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • An analytical mind, comfortable with numbers.
